I ordered some versa vessel pontoons and I'm going to use the old 816 frame. Did you put any padding in between your tubes and frame? Any recomendations for strapping them together? Thanx

Hey Jeremy,I do the same thing with my spare boat.I have never put anything there and I don't think the other guys do too.But then again it couldn't hurt :o That's a cool and pretty inexpensive upgrade,I'm sure you'll be stoked if your not already }( :+ Swampy

Jeremy,
Check Cabela's for the straps that you can use to secure your pontoons.I think they sell them in three different lenghts. Cut a piece of the strap material with the buckle portion and secure it to the outside portion of the frame. OSH sells sail cloth needles that you can use to sew the loop to the frame with buckle. The longer strap material can be sewn to the inside portion of the frame and looped underneath the pontoon and secured with the buckle. Hope this makes sense.

Jeremy,
Swampy and Joe pretty much summed it up. I used a web strap with a buckle and just looped it around the inside frame rail and pontoons then to the outside rail. It's kind of a pain to adjust but since I keep my boat in one piece and inflated all the time it works great. If I was going to break the boat down I would do something like Joe suggests and sew the straps to the frame so it would be easier to get everything put back together.
I padded my pontoon/frame with some thin strips of foam but it wasn't needed.
You will notice a big difference with the OE pontoons vs. the stock ones.
