Hello Backlash, I don't own a ODC-816 pontoon boat. I've fished with Pual and Steve who both have this boat. Perty much everytime I meet up with these guys, They'll have something new added to their boat. This tells me it's seems to be a good boat to work with.

I had an ODC. It was OK but cheaply built and didn't glide in the water very well. I now have a Water Skeeter which is priced similarly to the ODC but looks more like a Bronco.
It comes with a molded and padded seat, an ancor system and more. The draw back is the frame can not be moved on the pontoons to compensate for weight when you add a livewell.
So far, I like it a lot.

i might be able to get a water skeeter cheap, my dads friends friend works there.
My dads friend has like 10 sitting around his home doing nothing.

Morning

I also have a Blue Heron 8 that I got from Bass
Pro for about 400. I found this was a great price
for a 8 foot kickboat. I have modifyed it with a
hummingbird fish finder. A six pole holder and a
marin battery the works the fish finder and trolling
motor. Note I also have room on the back for a ice chest
and a live well. This boat can be seen online at
www.basspro.com. This boat is streamline and is very
fast crossing the water. The newer blue herons 2001
from Japan are lighter where the 2000 models are made
in the US, alttle heaver but stronger. Good luck and
hope to fish with you sonn day.

Best Fishes
Gene :)

I had my ODC for 1 year. The only defective thing I ran into was the oars. I bent one while fishin' the Russian River for steelhead this past winter.
I did some damage of my own to it while driving home from Clear Lake. I didn't tie it down well enough and it took a beating when it flew out.

I got the River Runner. Here's a URL to check it out. http://www.waterskeeter.com/ws_river_runner.htm
In my opinion it's much better than the ODC. Particularly when it comes to speed. Which reminds me, the blades on the ODC oars are way smaller than the blades on the River Runner. Which could be why the River Runner is so much faster.
If you get an ODC, buy different oars.

To be honest, I don't know what the retail price is. I got a killer price on mine cuz I work in a tackle shop and got a "pro deal". I can't tell ya what I paid. 'Tis a no-no.

I think they're around 5 or 6 hundy, but I'm not sure.

I got an ODC 816 in late 1999. I use it a lot and am happy with it for the most part. It's taken a lot of abuse in bad places (rivers/saltwater...). So far I've busted both pontoons (but they shipped me new ones made out of stronger material that are holding up great now) and I've also broken three oars. Oars would probably be ok if I wasn't so abusive with them.

I have a ODC 816 and I like what I've got for the price that I paid. Three hundred twenty-five bucks is almost as little as you can pay for a kick boat. It's light yet holds my 200+ lbs and the livewell with rods and gear, yet still gets me around. The seat that comes on it is comfortable but I changed mine to make room for the live-well. I also lengthened the frame in the aft end to give additional room for the live-well. The only other necessary modifications are for rod holders.

If you send me your e-mail address, I would be more than happy to send you some pictures of what I've done.

I'm in no hurry to get rid of it, but I would probably upgrade to a Versa Vessel if I could justify $700+... But truly doubt I'd catch more fish (or less - check my results).

yea,Steve i thought 325.00 was a price that might be to good to be true.but for the money it still sounds like a good deal .i'm also looking at the versa vessle and the skeeter..thats why i have all these questions ..it sound like the earlyer odc's were a lot better made than the new ones.i saw a photo in the members page of an odc that seem to be pretty heavy. being 250 lbs. i need something sturdy! here is my email MRMRSGRAY@aol.com send me some pics ! how small does it break down and how easy ???

If you're at 250 lbs., I recommend something other than an ODC 816.

The Versa Vessel is the only way to go.It might be a little more $$ but the oars are super strong, the kickboat can be broken down to fit in a suit case and the 8 footer is rated for a 250lb person + a total of 350lbs weight capacity. The pontoons dont have bladders and are made of PVC.

Outdoor Enigineering builds to order pretty much.Thay do not have any retail shops that I have ever heard of.It's pretty much an engineer, receptionist(wife) and shop.Thats why they are top quality.

If you want to see one or take one for a ride, show up at the Pinto Lake tournie next sunday(29th).You dont even have to fish it just be around during weigh in time. There will be a few Versa Vessle's there, not to mention other models as well.Just ask for me,I will be weighing the fish.
