Somebody asked about the snap I use on my slammer. Just now got around to taking a pic. Nothing special, just picked up some different style from Big 5 awhile ago.

Brian, I swapped out the stock snap for a 1/2-inch split ring. Sounds big but in scale to the slammer and the screw eye it looks ok. I haven't fished it yet. Any thoughts about using this instead of a snap? There was an article in WON a week or so back about a heavy duty snap similar to a Mcmahon style but could be used on big-ringed items like iron jigs, etc.

Just be sure the line doesn't get into the "bad place". I think you know what I mean, that spot where the two ends meet. As long as your knot doesn't get caught up in there and slide up the ring, or chafe on the ends it should be fine. I guess it's kind of a trade off because the plug will probably have better action with the big old split ring, but you stand the risk of your knot getting screwed up. If it works out for ya then that's all that matters right? -Brian
