Dude all i can say was it was hella windy!! Got to the lake at 7am and started chucking the soft castaic trout at flag pole point, in the first hour i got some really good looks at the bait, one that followed it in about 3 feet from shore, easy double digit fish. And another that looked to be about 7 or 8 pounds. Next thing i know theres like 4 boats in front of me so i couldnt really get any fan casts in, kinda bummed me out. Oh well i can understand w/ all the wind. Everyone was just pounding the points today though. Any hoot threw some jigs and an Armstrong crankbait for nada. skunked again at Perris........oh well theres castaic lagoon this Thursday night w/ Dakine so we should hopefully put the hurt on some fish there. Good fishing to all.

Ill be hitting Perris on 2-5 and 2-6..dont know what ill be throwing, but Ill be looking for Mr. Green back. I might throw a few cranks. But I think this time of year I shoud be fishing deeper than 6 feet. What works for me is a three way swivel tied to a crank and the other to a bell weight to drop a shallow crank to deep water. Ill be out there in a blue and silver Nitro 901 dcx. Flag me down and ask how I did. Maybe Ill have a positive answer.

Hey good luck out there Vulture im not gonna be able to make it up there on those days but im sure you'll get the lake uncrowded. That set up you were talking about on a three way swivel and a ball weight is something ive been thinking about for awhile but never thought to try it. I was thinking of just carolina rigging a floating jerk bait or like you said a shallow running crank bait. Im gonna give that a try next time. Let me know how you did, and if possible let me know if you are graphing alot of fish closer to shore and if so where, cuz im a poor shore fisherman and you never know the big females might be moving up. Good fishing to you.

I sure will, In fact on the 5th Ill might spend the day just graphing the lake. I heard the Moreno bass club spent a day tossing old trees out on the water. Of couarse I dont know where but Im going to try my best to find a couple. I might get a little fishing in by the dam. Thought of tossing a 7 inch worm or hopping a hula grub off the bottom. All depends on what I see on the graph. Let me know when you head up there again. If I have the day off we could hook up and stick a few greenies.

Hey there Tsunami,

Seems like you guys fish Perris bigtime. I guess float tubes and kayaks are OK, aren't they? A buddy ask me to ask 'can 2-strokes still be used on Perris'? I was there a long time ago with crappie in the trees and trout on leadcore along the dam.

Thanks,

JapanRon

Hey tsurikichi what going on. Ya kayaks, float tubes and pontoon boats are allowed at Perris for sure. As far as the 2 stroke question im not sure since i always fish perris from shore, im sure Vulture would know the answer to that one. Anyways if you do head down there for bass dont hesitate to go for the home run and throw the big baits out there, i usually throw the 9 inch Castaic soft and the 9inch MS slammer, also 5inch big hammers on 3/8 head. Do the whole tour; walk the damn to the bouy lines and back, if nothing there go down to powerplant point, then flagpole point, then the waterslide. If all else fails drop shot the marina. Ive also had success using Yamamoto Hula grubs in Smoke w/ Purple, Cinnamon w/ purple, Brown w/ purple and my favorite there Watermelon w/ red and black flake and Robo worms in Aarons magic, oxblood, black grape and especially Perris Punisher color. Senkos work good from time to time and crank baits can kill it there especially at night w/ a medium to shallow diving crank. Try the river trout color Armstrong crankbait at night or the shad color during the day. There ya go you should be set for anything Perris throws at you. Good fishing

Tsunami.

.. yes, 2 strokes are still allowed but they do want you to run the "No MTBE" gas though. They will hit us with the 4 stroke thing before long... Its only a matter of time! Before you know it you wont be able to get on any freshwater with out a 4stroke.. and maybe even salt!....Its all for cleanier water which in turn produces healthier fish for us to catch, and cleanier water to swim in, so how can you object to that right!??!.. Its all to the good!....hope Im still sayin this when the new bill $$$ shows up for the transition!!ahahha!! KEEP EM BENT!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there Tsunami and PHISHuntR,

Thank you both for the kind and generous information on the lake. With this inf passed on to my neighbor, I may be forced to visit Perris and fish from his boat. Boy, do I dread that! ha ha ha

Good luck on your fishing and might meet ya'll one of these days.

Again, thanks

All types of water craft are allowed on Perris. I would use a Kayak if I had one. Dont get me wrong I like to tube also but this time of year the water is colder and the wind may kick up. A kayyak maybe more versatile. You can cover more grond (water) faster than a tube.
Along the lines of of two stroke. All that is, is miss wording by the goverment. I should read "emmissions approved" There are alot of two strokes on the market that burn cleaner than four strokes. However due to the wording of "two stroke" this puts alot of marine dealers out of business. But dont get me on my high horse!!!!
I on my way to Perris today after I drop the kids off at school. I will post my results if I decide to fish.

As I said I was I hit Perris today. Was on the water by 0945 hrs. Went straight to the dam and made an attempt to find fish. Found three 1 keeper and two small ones. Searched the rest of the dam but no activity. I then went to rock climbers. No signs of life. Met a gental man there who had caught one. He also reads this board. Went towrds the island and attemepted to find more fish. NO LUCK! The wind kicked up and kicked me out. I was on dry land by 1330 hrs. Met another gental man who said they were catching fish off the tires. I did see three boat over there. Maybe Ill check that out tomarrow. Perris has been tough lately. It wont be long before it turns on. Hope everyone is there to enjoy it when it does. Till tomarrow.

Fished Perris on the 6th. Again it was windy, not as windy as the 5th but the wind blew and made it tough to stay in postion. My partner caught one on a crawdad. I threw plastics all day but had no luck. Spoke to a guy in rock climbers who said he caught one on his first cast in the morning. I didnt ask what he threw. Wont go up there until next week. Hope things get better between now and then. The shore line up to 15 or 16 feet was clear and no signs of life. I dont think shore fishing would be good for a while unless you try it at night.
