Are you renting a boat or going in you kick boat?

We'll be in our kick boats as far as I know. Dave and I did not discuss renting anything.

They'll probably restrict your range on the water to within the 5-MPH bouys or whatever, in your kickboats. I think they had told me not to even leave the Preserve area, although I did. However, I would guess that the Scow Canyon area would be out of the question, either way, since it'd be a heck of a long row! Scow Canyon is where some reports I've seen lately say the best bass action is.

I don't know for sure, though. I haven't been out there for a couple of years, and I don't know exactly what the rules are, or how rigidly they'll enforce them. Hell, when I was there, they were still trying to figure out whether to let a strange craft like mine out on the lake, much less how/whether to restrict my movement! Of course, as per usual, they decided on the 'cautionary approach,' & let me on, but with limited range beyond the Preserve.

Hopefully, these concessionaires will someday be enlightened enough to let us be responsible **all on our own** (what a concept!!!). Does anyone know if Chabot will let us take our kickboats out on their little pond again? (I got on with mine about 5 years ago, but heard that the past few years, they've not let them on). I assume Shadow Cliffs' rules are still intact -- i.e., kickboats are allowed on the backside of the levee, as long as we leave our OARS at home?

If any of you hit any of the above-mentioned puddles, I'd appreciate hearing back from you (preferably on this Forum, so we all can be made aware) what your experience with the rangers and their rules are.

All I know is that I have seen float tubes there twice now. I have also seen canoes, kayaks, little racing kayaks and all sorts of small vessels. The tubers I saw were inside the 5mph bouys but then again the entire lake is 5mph from the shore to 100 yards out so it's not like you would miss out on anything if you were limited to that except maybe trying to cross the lake. I have yet to get bit in scow canyon although I have tried almost every time I've been there :)

Jeff,I know you had a problem at showdow cliffs but every time I go there I never have a problem.Maybe it's cause I'm there every weekend in the winter.(well, almost!)I've had it so they almost let me drive over the levy but then they said I couldn't.I'm not sure about chabot.I think Rob knows someone who works there.I think they would let us put in there.I'd like to try chabot as I had tubed it about 5 years ago and only got 1 fish.(it was about 13lbs!)I realy haven't been back there since but keep meaning to go.If ya get the itch let me know and we'll hook up.Later, swampy

Hey Guys

I was out there in March with my kickboat and was given
a map to were I could go. I had to stay within the preserve
area only eventhough I had a trolling motor attached to
it. I wanted to fish the cove but could not, so I ended up
fishing for trout. We went as far as we could north to the end
of the perserve and my buddie ended up catching a 5+ trout
and a 4+ pounder off powerbait yellow at the point.

Good Luck
Gene :)
