Hi all,
I'm looking to get a new kick boat for my son and was wondering what you all would consider?
We do mostly lake fishing.
I have had a Outcast and currently have an older Bucks bags Bronco.

Thanks,
Jerry

Hello Jerry and welcome!

Well, the new Bronco's along with Southforks are still great boats and Rich over at SCBBBC could probably figure a way to get a good discount as well if you sign up for membership. There are many to choose from these days and often you'll find some great deals on lightly used boats on craigslist or even just posting something up on one of these forums.

Where are you located?

Todd

Hi Todd,
I live in San Jose.
I was a fairly active float tuber, 10, 15 years ago. I was up on all the latest boats, but I've been away from it too long. I remember there were some boats you wanted to stay away from and some good boats but the companies went out of business.
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry,

You know, it seems to me most of the boats over $200 are solid these days and it's hard to go terribly wrong with the major manufactures. I probably have the same model Bronco as you and it is still holding up after all these years!

I know some guys have Scaddens, Outkast, VV and more but to me, I want to support the manufacture that supports us and it's been Buck's. I know not as many here at BnT use them but the SCBBBC is mostly all with them and they have even modified their frame design to accomodate the weight of a livewell on the back.

Again, you can find some great deals online if you are patient. My buddy picked up an almost new Bronco (it was 7 years old but only used about 6 times) for $200 and I've heard of others in this price range as well.

Make sure you post when you're headed out and I'm sure you'll have a chance to meet up with some of the guys! I'm not in my kickboat very much anymore but do enjoy getting out in it when I have a chance.

Hi Jerry. There are ally of different boats now and most of them have definitely improved. I have a 9' fishcat that I like a lot. The fishcat cuts through the water better then most I believe. Todd is right the bucks bags a good to and rich Caro does get a deal. You basically need to look at what size and weight you want. The heavier and shorter ones are cheaper, steel frame and 8'. Creek company has come along way as well with their boats and for a new one that is probably the cheapest. Those 3 boat company what I would choose from.
