Hey y'all,
The fishin' doesn't get much better on the Russian than it is right now. I got a limit of chrome this morning just downstream from Dry Creek. A couple of bucks, both around 6 pounds.
It is way crowded though.

I was starting to wonder about you Chris and how you were doing on the waters. Congrats on the metal heads.
Times for me are still finically ruff thoe I sure would like to go some time :)

What kind of baits seem to be doing the best?

Post pics..

Great to hear from you! So what are the water conditions like? What did you get them on? Were you fishing from shore? You've got to tell more! Where are the pics anyway?!? Need to see some of that chrome!

Got 'em a few hundred yards downstream from where Dry Creek dumps in. Both fish were caught on the smallest, peach colored corkie they make and a little "peachy king" colored yarn.
No roe.
One thing though, you've got to be there a half hour before sunrise just to get the water you want. There were over 50 people, within 200 yards in either direction, from where I was standing. The place is packed.
Anyone wanting to try it from their kickboats, here's a good spot to try if you're going solo:
Follow the 101 north to the 116 west exit @ Cotati. Follow the 116 through Sebastopol until you get to Maribell Rd. and turn right. When you get to the end of the road, you'll see a big sign saying "Burke's Canoes". Pull in and park there. You'll see where to launch. Then row UPSTREAM. It's not to hard. There are some great spots to fish roe or plugs in the area. A lot of guys in Prams fish there.
Fish 10 or 12 lb line with a 10 lb leader. Bring a net for 5 to 15 lb fish. At least a 10 lb ancor for your kickboat.
And be sure you have a steelhead punch card.

Chris
