Top 3 for the day were:

Steve Wilson - 5 fish 12.33 lbs.
Todd Iwamoto - 5 fish 10.26 lbs.
Jeff Andress - 4 fish 9.24 lbs.

Big Fish - Rich Caro - 5.30 lbs.

You can ask Jeff and Kevin about their stories since there was a good chance they should have hit the top two with limits each but I'll let them tell their story ;-)

We had a record low turnout for the past three years with only 14 people showing up. It was also a day for dinkville with several guys catching 20-40 undersized fish (4" to 12 3/4") including myself. The bigger girls were a little on the elusive side although I did witness Travis losing one that was probably over 5lbs.

Oh, fish were caught on virtually everything. I know I caught them on senkos, baby brushhogs, brushhogs, ikas, crankbaits and other lures and know people also caught fish on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

Here are the pics:

Don't tell me K-dog helped Jeff with the livewell again (like at the Open in 2001). Sorry, K-dog (hee hee). Psyched you out at the last meeting when I told you I was going to gain points on you, even though I wasn't fishing, didn't I? That's the benefit of age, son - we like to trick you youngstahs.

WEll, i started off int he morning by kicking across the lower blue lake, and started heading east, just basically stopping and flipping holes that have been productive for myself in the past. i was flipping Motoroil senkos, just cus thats the only color i had on me. i didnt prefish or prepare for this tournament, what i had left in my boat is what i had at the last tournament. So just flipped the senkos selectively heading east and first fish, slammed it, was about a 3 pounder, a little further, flipped up in about 2 feet of water, got hit again another 2.5 pounder, a little ways further flipped a submerged tree, pulled a 2#er out of there, and eventually by 745am i had caught 5 decent fish, in the 15 pound total range, one was about 4.5 pounds. then i got to the end near the tules, kicked over there, kicked around deren Kozenko who was flipping every pocket in the tules, and was talking to him, and my second flip pulled out a little dink, then three flips later pulled out a 3 pounder, went to cull it and pulled my basket up and no fish! there was a hole in the bottom about 6 inches long! i couldnt beleive i had no fish. so with my legs holding onto my fish, i cut off some line of a rod i wasnt using, and tied my bag back up. then proceded to fish again, not so happy about the situation. so kicked back across to where i had fished a little earlier, and caught a crappie, as i was holding the crappie up to show someone, my rod started pulling into the water, i threw the crappie and grabbed my rod, set the hook, and there was a 2.5 pounder. fished a little further and caught another one about 2 pounds a little later, and one more 1.5 pounder or so by 10 am, after that, i couldnt catch another keeper, but caught about 20+ fish all day, 9 keepers. luckily ended up in 3rd places, had a great time, love fishing blue lakes, minus holes in the livewells! thanks everyone who showed up for a fun tournament, Congrats to Steve Wilson, Todd, and Mike bogges, all who finished in the top.

Jeff

No, it was on a red with red flake brush hog. I fished the upper clearer lake due to Mr Kevins very large fish he caught last year. I went there only to through a swim bait until the sun came up. It was a disaster due to rat nests. The worst I have ever had. I had to totally cut out a full spool of 25lb maxima big game on my big swim bait rod and respool it. Then after about 12 casts with a freshly spooled 12 lb cranking rod, I got another major backlash. Of cource I triied like hell to undo them without cutting any line and I waisted alot of safe light casting time. When the sun finally came up I realised how Gin clear that water was. While paddling back in I managed to hook a keeper on a blade only to lose it at my tube. Oh well, I was on the water at the mudd lake by around 9:00.
I through every thing and I caught a dink or two and was peppered by them while worming. Then at around 1:30 I flipped into a tree that was probably hammered and as luck would have it, SLAMMMO WAMMO, 5+ pounds of fish was triing to eat my bait. After that, nothing, not even a nibble. I had a blast and was able to get back into the swing of things. There where only 14 of us which was kinda nice. We where spread out and not ontop of each other like we usually are. I missed having you up there, hope to see you at Sprung Leak.

P.S. Todd, I found the original sponcer sheets for the Make A Wish tourney. If any one needs some please contact Rich Caro.

Rich

Nice try, Homewood, but don't even TRY to outfox the Grey Fox. Going in, you were 5 back & now you're 6. Now, I ain't no math whiz, but that's not what I call gaining ground.

Heck, I may sit out Spring Lake just to gain even more points on you.

By the way, what was Todd referring to? What the heck was going on out there?

Well, anywho - heh, heh - nice try, kid. Give it a few more years & you'll be a wily veteran like me, playing mind games on the youngstahs & psyching them out.
