I will be going up to the bay area this weekend specifically hercules (anywhere close to san pablo area) are there any places to tube there? what works best for bass/trout? Thanks.
Your best choice by far is the Delta. You can also tube in that lake by Marine World in Vallejo. I've never fished it, but I called them a year or two ago & they said it's OK (it's a city park across from Marine World - I called the park). There's limited tubing at San Pablo Dam Reservoir. I think you can also tube that lake near Antioch (I've forgotten the name - someone from BNT has tubed it, though). For shore fishing, there's that funky little lake by the Hilltop Mall that actually has bass in it, & there's also Lake Anza in the hills above El Cerrito. Good luck.
The lake in Antioch is called Contra Loma. I haven't been out there in about a month, but it always produces fish. It is a small lake, and a good choice if the delta has nasty weather. -- Josh
After convincing the wife it wouldn't rain found a place called Lake Camanche which was about an hour from where I was staying but close to one of my relatives house (3min). Didn't get out on my tube but i did fish the shore and belive it or not I caught about a 8lb trout on a 5in baby bass kinami. The first time I caught a trout fishing for bass with a bass pole. Kept plugin away and then nailed a 10lb bass, and wouldn't you know I caught another one of those darn trout. Don't get me wrong I like to fish for all different kind of fish but it dumb founded me that a trout would hit a soft plastic designed for bass. Well i had fun and not one rain drop fell on us.:9

Wow! That's really a neat fishing trip. I too, live about 3 minutes from Lake Camanche (south shore). I've fish there plenty but never had results like those. Did you get any pictures? Which shore-line were you fishing? I may have to go over this week to see what I can do.
I don't know what shoreline but if your facing the store head torwards your right and keep going to the day area of the park you'll pass some campsites. I basically just fished in between the sticks and walked up and down the shore I concentrated on what I thought were points. Good luck let me know how you do.
