#4535, "Estimate the Weight..."

I caught this fish and a few others about the same size last december, but just now got around to developing the pictures. Any ideas on how much this fish weighs? For reference, I am 6" tall and 185 lbs. I have not caught many bass over 2-3 lbs, and was originally thinking the fish was about 3.5, maybe 4 lbs, but after seeing others pictures of 5 and 6 lb'ers, I am thinking that this one may be more than 4.

Also, I caught a fish, sadly after the camera ran out of batteries, that was of very similar build, but measured 26.5 inches. Any ideas on how much that one weighed(I know knowing the length alone is not enough for an accurate estimate, but any ideas are appreciated)? (i was thinking somewhere between 8 and 12, but not sure).

thanks,
nate

I'd say 5. The other one I couldn't say. I've caught fish 28 inches that were 7 or 10. It depends on the build of the fish.

Its a farm pond off Laguna Canyon road in Newport Beach (I think, not sure about the city). Sadly, it got drained because of a housing tract that is going to be put in. All the fish were moved to Coyote Reservoir.

Is there another Coyote Res. in So Cal.? The only one I know of is up here in Nor Cal about 350+ miles from Newport. I doubt DFG would transport fish more than 50 miles lake to lake. There's too much stress involved.
Tight lines,
Wade
