#1470, "More Generic Trout Sizes"

Two weeks ago I picked up some of the other Generic Trout sizes including a 16" and a 7" bait. Here's a pic to see the sizes. The bait in the middle is the 12" Generic, somewhat of a darker color than my first 12". They all swim a little different. The 16" has a slow swimming action, the 12" is more medium pace, and the 7" has a fairly tight wobble to it. I was playing with the 7" and you can kind of make it walk the dog under water which might be useful in some situations. When you walk it back and forth, the hooks make a loud noise on the bait too which is interesting. I won't have a chance to try them seriously for a few more weeks but hopefully my luck will be like when I got my first 12" and that 13lber at Coyote decided to munch it :-)

DaKine,

The word is that the hardbaits will be coming back on the market. When? When Jerry has time to make more I guess. Keep an eye out this fall. A lot of his lures go to Japan which makes getting them in the US kinda tough. Pricing was $100 for the 12" previously. I don't know what it will be when they come out again.

Cody, I don't know much about browns but I'm packing a 12lb baitcasting rod, 2 7" Slammers, and the 7" Generic for my trip this week to Mammoth Lakes. I figure I'll just trolling motor down the banks and pretend I'm fishing for bass. Who knows, maybe I will get lucky. I know it's a bad time of year for browns but maybe one will be up cruising around for some reason or another. At least I'll be the only guy doing it :-)

Rob,
You have a couple things working for you with those lures. One is that most if not all of the browns there have not seen those lures before, and also they plant the heck of the Eastern Sierras in the summer so a lot of the browns are onto the dumb little planters swimming around the shoreline. You may even hook into a big Alpers, I've heard of a quite a few being landed by brown guys this summer. Best of luck to you. Maybe we can get together sometime this fall or into spring, and you can run that lure in some of the lakes on the west slope of the Sierras in northern California.

That sixteen inch lure is amazing. I know some places that would be very interesting to see what would happen if that seven inch Generic Trout was trolled by while chasing the old brown. That is a fine set you have there.
