heard a good bit of people say they are good, went to check em out and pulled on two, the darn things crackled like crazy, didnt feel too comfortable with that. could have been just a batch thing.....

the "crackle" is probabally just the flex coat on the guides, sometimes if there are small bubbles in it that will make a crackling noise. this wont be a permanent thing and wont effect the rod performance or strength.

Ya know, the funny thing is, I've never even seen a G-Loomis rod splined properly either. Even the 300+ dollar models. BLAH! They're nice rods but if they won't even bother to spline them, why pay so much money? It's no wonder they break so often.

I contacted loomis about this, and they told me that they don't spline rods that are rated for under 20#, from GL2 to GLX. The reason is that the twist will not really effect the action of the rod at the lower line weight, so it is not necessary in the eyes of GLoomis to spline those rods. IMO if you are spending that coin, they should spline them just for the heck of it. But who knows if this will effect the cost of the rod even more.
