#7064, "Clearlake"
|
Over the weekend I got to go to Clearlake for the first time and I'm sure I’ll be going back again soon. We left here late Thursday evening, drove all night and splashed the boat before sunrise in a pretty good wind storm. We could only fish the north shore and found some fair bed fish, nothing flipping, frogging, and only 2 on the Lucky Craft LV 500 and no other reaction fish. By the time we were getting the boat out of the lake it was raining on us but by 7:00 the clouds were gone, the wind had died and I wanted to go out again. I got to sleep around 11:00 and got up for the signups at 4:00 where I got a chance to talk to Rob, which was very nice. Clearlake is incredible, good fishing structure and cover everywhere, and I would love to get back there when the bite is good. We ended up weighing 24 pounds for 5 fish good enough for 2nd place but it was almost all bed fish and a couple of Senko fish. If you like to fish docks this is the place for you. If you like to flip tules, or wood, or grass, throw frogs, or Senkos, or rattletraps, go to Clearlake, you will not be disappointed! I got to see a fair amount of the lake in 2 day’s fishing but it was only a primer for everything else up there. It took us 6.5 hours to drive there and we stayed in the Skylark Motel in Lakeport which was very comfortable and had its own launch ramp. I'm ready to go again soon.
