Got on the rental boat at 9:30am and fished for about 4 hours. This is my second time fishing from a boat so I am still learning how to maneuver it in the water. And Castaic winds don't help. Left the water 10 minutes before the winds started to really howl. Caught only one lmb. This is by far my PB but my scale was out of juice so any guesses on the weight are much appreciated. Length as per my measuring tape was around 21" or so.

Congrats on your PB! What did you catch it on? If it was my fish and my scale was out of commission I would probably have to estimate it about 8 or 9 lbs. ;-)

Here is the actual size photo. If you still say 18" I will go with you, but I thought you read length to the end of the the tail.

close its mouth and move the tape up a bit for an honest 19" going maybe 4 1/2 - 5 lbs. They get kinda skinny during the spwaning season. :(

If you hadn't shown us the picture, it is easily 22" and a pre-spawned 8lbs :D

But a nice catch, all the same.

Thanks. All the same I am happy with it being my small PB and the first ever fish I catch from a boat and the first bass from castaic. :) Btw, it was caught on a tiki 3.5" worm dropshoted.

If it was measured while being held vertically it would have probably been about 19.5" from nose to end of tail. About a 5.5 - 6 lber. (my guess).
