#2696, "Margarita Marina Store Closed?"

I heard a rumor that the marina store at Santa Margarita Lake has closed for good. When I went to margarita to drown a few worms, it looked pretty empty over there (I was looking from the main body of the lake and didn't go for a closer look). All signs are down and all the boats in the carport/boatport are gone.
Can anyone confirm this and the story behind the closure? It was real nice to get updates from there.

The story I heard (second or third hand) was that Dean had bought some Champion boats to sell and then Champion went under, so nobody wants to buy them because the warranty is useless. Apparently, the cost of the boats and not being able to get a decent price for them was enough to sink the store.

I talked to a ranger up there at Margarita and he told me the marina lease was up for renewal with the state. Apparently Dean and the state could not agree on the new terms. He said it would take about six months for them to find someone to take on the new lease.
Anyone interested? I don't think the champion boats took him under
as he was just flooring them, champion owned them. Ya, Dean will be missed.....Dave
