It's been slow the past couple of weeks. I've talked to a few people that have been getting small stripers out towards Quarts hill on rattle traps.

Does anyone know if you can tube Quail if you're wearing waders? I've only fished ther one time. Me and a buddy each caught 1 small lmb about 7 or 8 inches ea. It was real windy and it seemed everyone was fishing for cats.

Shane, do you know if B&M sells bloodworms? The guy who works there (owner?) does not seem to be real social. I remember asking him about where are some good fishing spots in the aqueduct, his answer was 'all over'!!

Qauil Lake and heavy wind go hand and hand. I've only fished a few times and had some success on every trip but nothing of any size (small SB, LMB, SMB). There where a lot of people fishing for catfish as I recall and they all seemed to have at least one if not more in the 1-3lb range. Oh well to answer your question the lake does not allow the following: no skin contact (rules out swimming and wading), No boats (rules out pwr boats, kayaks, handlaunchers and float tubes). So shore fishing only I don't believe your allowed to get too close the Inlet located towards the center of the lakes backside. Several people fell in and drown back in the day so they had to shut it off. That was the place to fish for stripers but it was out right dangerous.

The ranger told me current is so strong that if you fell in the water you would be held under for 3 minutes minimum as your being pushed to the center of the lake. I was sceptical at first until I saw the force of the water coming through the inlet. Yup I believe him. This is one of the main reasons for no boating. I know your probably thinging they could'nt they just rope it off allow non power boats if anything but you know someone with too much to prove would come along and do something stupid that would end up getting them killed. So I guess they are trying to avoid all that.

Yes B&m sells Bloodworms. Just call before you go over there
and make sure that they're not out. And I know what your saying about the owner...He's kinda weird.

I've been using two setups. The first one is a carbomax rod
with a 253a millionaire spooled wiyh 12 pound green maxima.
The second setup is a carbomax rod with a 200b curado spooled
with 10 pound green maxima. I use the first setup for my topwater baits and the second for my hair jigs. When I fish bloodworms
I use a small baitrunner with 12 pound green maxima.(carolina rigged)

Shane I was wondering what the best time is to fish the aqueduct for stripers is it in the morning and afternoon when the current is on and if so what size rattle trap would you use in the current ? Thanks in advance.

To tell you the truth I don't throw rattle traps. When the water is moving I like to throw hair jigs. Most of the time I'm throwing a
1 oz. hair jig. As for when the water isn't moving I'm usually throwing top water baits. But I have caught fish on topwater when the water is rippin. Getting back to the rattle traps I will give my buddy a call and find out what size he's been throwing. Just remember that you want to match the Sacramento perch. That is mainly what they're eating besides the sculpins, freshwater shrimp and freshwater clams.
