Success Marina
30300 Highway 190
Porterville, CA 93257
559 784-0215

Take HWY 99 to 190. Take 190 East for 8 miles and follow signs.

Hope this helps.

Success Lake is just a few miles east of Porterville, California. To call it Southern California is stretching the definition of southern a bit. Porterville is 45 mins to an hour north of Bakersfield. To get to the lake you can head north on I-5 towards Bakersfield, continue north on Hwy 99 and then take the Hwy 65 north just as you pass Bakersfield. Hwy 65 runs into Porterville and there should be a well marked exit for Success Lake just as you come into the southern edges of Porterville.

I've had a couple of bass expeditions to Success Lake but, due to being skunked a few times, my nickname for the lake is Lake Unsuccessful. If you go and find some crappie fishing, let me know where you found them. I live in Bakersfield and Success Lake is within daytrip distance for me -> if I could have a reasonable chance of catching fish.

Good luck to you.

I talked to a guy about 3 years ago who had caught a bunch of big bass out of Success. He showed me the pics and everything, I was pretty impressed. Then that guy got that 19 there on a Silver Buddy, and there was some excitement about the lake ... but since then I haven't heard much at all. The few reports I did read were all pretty poor. It's in a kind of out of the way location too, so I'd bet there's not a lot of people fishing it. Put a report or somethin if you go robbor.
