I just tried for stripers this morning & nothing! x( I troll a little, casted swimbaits (small & large), & used anchovies in different depths. I fished near the marina & at the dam. And no dam fish! Gave up at noon. Maybe next time? Almost forgot, I went to Pyramid Lake.

I only got one single good bump from a 6 in. trout imatation when trolling away from the marina. I made a stop there to see if I can get a fish but no hits after that.

dont feel that bad dude. stripper fishing is pretty hard. i fished castaic last week with my friend peter for that moonlight madness thing. my third cast with a z-plug and i got nailed by a 15 lber. its really all about luck, but if your looking for strippers and are throwing trout plugs best bet is to look for quick drop offs and points. theyre the ambushing type. i also lost one when we were making a move to the other end, i was trolling a plug and the fish nearly ripped the rod outta my hand! didnt have time to react so he went bye bye! oh yah, my dad is in the w.o.n on the second page, he's awesome about fishing chovies. last time he went he caught 7 fish, all over 6 biggest was like 12 i believe. so yah, dont get discouraged, stripper fishing is tricky, but when you get in the grove it can be awesome!!!!!

Exactly, where are the good striper spots at Pyramid? Hey Okie, you are a local, please post a response. Also, what are the key factors to success here? I need to catch a striper this year! A nice one I hope. I guess I am too eager. I got totally stoked when I caught a 14 lber. once at Castaic. The meat is great! I recently ate some fish tacos made from a striper my friend caught. Excellent meal! My recipe though. He caught an 11 lber. at Castaic fishing from shore at the dam on Sat. 1-10. He used a fish trap lure (shad imatation). He has achieved better success than me lately, and I taught him. "THE STUDENT HAS BECOME THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHER HAS BECOME THE STUDENT". :o Good for him. He is addicted now!

You don't stink Bro.

Stripers move around a lot all year. They kinda remind me of the frewshwater version "elusive" white seabass. You think they are real tricky and hard to catch, then all of a sudden you're there when they want to die and bite everything. You're doin the same thing you were doing when you didn't get bit?
Timing is everything with stripers. For one they are real nocturnal feeders. This makes, or one would think it makes, the early and late the best times to get bit. I personally had some of the best topwater fishing this yr for stripers at Castaic during the middle of the day. These were not boiling fish either. You just had to be in the right shallows where they were looking for bait! Timing. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off! Don,t stay in one spot, keep moving. Most times a few casts in a spot and you're bit. When I would take the boys seabass fishing there was always 1 or 2 guys waiting for the bite to happen. The fish would come through, bite then leave. No fish for 1 and 2. Good job keeping at it. Call me for more info

I agree with Burgie. I did very well yesterday in the Delta catching about 20 linesides. Nothing real big but keepers nonetheless. I basically fished the same spot for hours with nothing until it started to happen. Went back today with the ice and cooler but came home with zippo! Fishin from the bank and these fish would just nip at the tail of my lure (every half hour or so). They just would not gulp it down like yesterday. Caught 2 out of 6 biters. Biggest was 10 inches today ha ha ha. Going back tomorrow.
