Hey guys, i am heading up to the river this week to target some trout and i am taking along a budy of mine who is into fly fishing. I have never fly fished before and i have no clue what to tell him to use in terms of fly stlyes and designs. If any of you guys know what works well in the river as far as fly selection goes please let me know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Charlie

I've only done it a couple of times. For the trout wooly buggers (dark greens or browns) worked pretty good. For the bass (it may be starting to get warm enough) we usually used poppers but did get a few on the wooly buggers also.
Also, the bass are not stocked like the trout - please release them.

Thanks a bunch leapin, you are always so generous with your knowledge. No worries on releasing the bass, I have fished in the SYR since I was a child and I have and will always release all bass and other fish that I catch in the SYR (minus stocked trout). Once again thanks. Charlie
