Frogs require heavy tackle and lots of work, but they can get you some of the best strikes and hookups of your life. I typically use a couple outfits, depending on where I'm fishing. If I'm throwing around sparse tule clumps, isolated weed clumps,or docks, I prefers a heavier MH or lighter Hvy, action in 7ft. Enough tip to throw the bait and work it in open water, but lots of butt to pull'em out of heavy cover if need be. If I'm throwing a frog straight into tule clumps, thick weedbeds,wood, or any other extremely heavy cover, I use a flipping stick style. The Frogmaster himself, Booby Barrack, use the Lamiglas flippin' sticks all his frogs. I use a lower priced Daiwa Procaster but it foes the job well. In this rod, you want a lighter tip than something you might throw a swimbait or punching rig with to get the bait out there, but a flpping stick but with tons of power, to hold the fish when you have to go in there and get'em out. }(
As for frogs, I really only use two. The Snagproof Bobby BArrack Series are the best and are readily available in good colors, though you only need a brown, black, white, and green for almost all frog fishing. The other bait I use is a Boze (?) Weedless Walker (at least I think thats the name) I like to use this bait when I'm getting fish on Spooks but they move back into the cover. Its basically a weedless Spook with a plastic body and frog hooks. Works well for me. :-)
