I'm going to start heading up to McClure the next few weekends, which is a little earlier than I generally start my bass fishing. I was wondering if anyone had any tips/techniques for some February bass. I know it's still a little early for the pre-spawn fish up in the shallows, but the weather has been pretty nice the last week or so, high 60's-low 70's over here. So, I'm thinking the fishing should start getting fairly productive soon. Any help would be great, thanks.

Fishing at McClure can be great in February especially if the weather stays warm. Two years ago I got on an awesome jig, Senko and rip-bait bite in shallow water at the end of the month. If the water temps are in the 52-56 degree range I think you will be able to find fish up shallow feeding sometime during the day. In general you can do well on jigs, Carolina rigged plastics ripbaits and swimbaits. I would start in the 20 foot depth rang and move shallow as the day progresses.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Thanks for the tips. My initial plan was to go with larger baits, fished slower, and stick close to heat retaining areas like the large rocks and concrete walls around the spillway. Sound about like the right plan?
