#6706, "November 9, Lake Perris"

Drove up to Matt Peters' house last night and crashed. Got up early this morning and got the lake at around 6:30. Today's battle plan was to go for the gold and fish nothing but trout plugs. We were each armed with two trout rods a piece and an array of trout baits. So, we launch the boat and 20 minutes into the morning we're giving this shore fisherman some birth and matt casts out into like 25ft. with the eagle and he's running it on top of the water. Surprised both of us when he got blown up on by a 2.5lber. Nothing on the bottom, no reason for that fish to be there, it just was and it was pissed. And that pretty much concludes the action until 3:30 when we put the boat on the trailer. Super day at Perris. We had no other bites and saw very few followers, maybe 4 or 5. It didn't rain as much as we'd expected, it was just kind of raincloudy and dark out but most of the day we stayed dry. It did get pretty windy though. We couldn't have asked for better swimbait conditions but for some reason the fish just weren't on em. I didn't see a stretch of glassy water all day, it was all rippled up and dark color aaahhhh the stuff big baiters dream of... Oh well, what can ya say? It looked perfect, we did the right thing all day long without giving up (because we didn't have any other rods or lures with us...) but the fish just wouldn't cooperate.

Had about the same day,me and woodchucker were out around rockclimbers cove and the dam from around 9 till 2 or so.Got ran off by the wind.We were in Kayaks and they are'nt the best handling in the wind.

We threw slammers and a little jig fishing for no action.Wanted to go try Castaic but did'nt because figured the wind would be worse there.Oh well, glad Matt had some action,it can only get better!

Ah dude, we saw you guys over there. You guys were charging. We were in the ranger that came up right as whoever in the red kayak paddled over to whoever was in the yellow kayak on the buoy line.

That was us P-nuts in the red kayak and Woodnuckler in the yellow yak.We were debating what you guys were throwing,I thought an osprey or a generic.

It was perfect weather, just a litle less gusts of wind!We were paddling our a$$es off against the wind.

Yeah you guys looked hurt, we gave you props for being hardcore. Peters was probably throwing the eagle, I don't remember what I was throwing. Either slammer or generic swimbait probably. Rough day at perris.

PHISHnutS, let me know the next time you guys hit Perris on a Sat. I'd love to get the yak out there. I actually came close to going there yesterday, but I had already promised the wife I'd be home all day.

Brian, let me know when you get your tube stuff down to SM. I'll take you to a nice little lake that is really fun in the tube. It's free and only about 15min. from your place.

Man, Perris has just been ruff lately. We fished it today to get ready for the WON Bass on the 17th there and got nothing except a few nice follows. Fish just don't seem to be interested in anything currently

I'll try to post ahead of time before we know we are going for sure. It's hard to say sometimes because we just play it by ear each weekend depending on trout plants, weather and reports so it's hard say for sure where we'll fish day to day.

Keep an eye out for a couple of yaks throwing the big stuff,we should be going quite a bit this season.
