#1552, "So pissed at Chesbro"

Monday night I fished chesbro from shore and saw lots of good looking signs for largemouth. I was bankfishing for bream for my aquarium. Saw this guy pull a nice largemouth to the bank and then it just came off as he was about to lip it. He was throwing a white fluke, it looked like. Fella said he pulled in a 6 pounder the previous night. Fishing along the same stretch of shore were these four no-class A holes who were throwing out chicken liver and crawlers for cats. I'll get back to them in a minute.

Tuesday I came back and tubed my way across the dam face to the first back cove on the other side of the lake. I was splitshotting along the steep bank face and on three successive casts nailed three largemouths. I only had extralight spinning gear so they all put up a good fight, despite being each around 1.5#. I would have stuck around longer and thoroughly scoped the cove out but my tube had a slow leak. Must have got pricked by a thistle as I was coming down the hill. After that third fish I was sitting uncomfortably low. Nice cove with lots of submerged timber.

Kicked back over to the boat ramp and saw that those A holes from last night had left all their chicken liver containers on the bank! I was pissed. It's a small lake but I think it is such a great resource, as I fish it pretty regularly. Stuff like that pisses me off. I'm sure locals like Wade would agree that something needs to be done.

What would you guys do?!

Take a kid to Chesbro for bluegill, by the way. They can practice casting and playing the fish on ultralight all night long as the bream are spawning.

Boy, do I hear you! In the last 5 trips out there I've filled 4 shopping bags and a large trash bag. All without moving more than 100'. The hell of it is there are Trash cans at every major parking area, and they hardly get used. Except, it seems, by me.
What ever happened to the adage "Pack out what you pack in and more", and "Pitch-In"?
Just Venting a little.

Tight lines,
Wade

Bruin, what type of tank are you keeping the gills in? I just got a nice little 4" bass and two really nice looking green sunfish hanging in a 40 gallon with an albino oscar- the bass tore up the feeders I threw in there tonight, he is a fat pig! The sunnies ate the feeders good too. The little bass made the oscar look like a vegan! When they grow some they'll be moved into a 125, then after that it's back to their home water. It's cool to watch them operate in a tank.

bassnet,
When they get 125 gal size, you can feed em mice. That's REALLY fun. Great weekend entertainment...

These are tiny, so I'm starting them off in a 10 and then onto a 50 gal. I'm still a rookie aquaculturist. How do you guys rig your filters for these? All I've got is charcoal ground filter and a little bubble rock deal for aeration.

Hey Bruin,

You might want to add a back filter or skimmer. Its a filter that mounts on the back of the tank. It pulls the water up through a filter, then dumps it back into the tank. This will help to keep the water clearer and also create some much need water circulation. I have raised bass in my 100 gal. upto about 5.5 lbs. Then its too crowded for them and they get to go home. It is a ball to watch them eat. Mine would eat damn near anything that hit the water. I just started with a new fish about a week ago. He is just about 5 inches long now, but he will blow up quick. This is the first Florida strain I have had. He came up on a plane with a buddy from Orlando. I hope to get a bigger tank to see how big I can grow him. I'll post some pics soon.

Tight lines,

Clay
