hey guys,

what swimbaits would work well in the aquaduct through hesperia for stripers? any brands or colors? im new to the area and need info

Not that far South, but up here I've done well with 4" Fish Traps in Key lime. Anything in a fairly light color should do the trick.

I don't know about that stretch of the wood but I was fising the aquaduct around the avenal/coalinga area over the weekend and did pretty good with 3" Little Fishy Minnow in white color with 3/8 ounce lead head. My cousin order those somewhere not exactly sure. It wasn't wide open but it was consistent with 15 - 17 inch stripers. Also tried a storm lookalike in white color with little success. Only problem was that the tail was kind of small and didn't give my action out of it.

I have had luck with the storm wildeye's in perch color, 5" model, and the suspenders in the white orange belly. At nite go BIG,9" AC plugs and my fav lure for nite use is an all black 9" or 12" ms slammer, it really calls in the toads. I fish the duct mainly from Pearblossom to Lancaster. Good luck to ya.

When your throwing the Slammers, are you waking them with/against/across the current or what? I've thrown the 7 and 9" Slammers for 0 hits and the 7 and 9" 4-Eyes for 3 hits and 2 fish on the 9"for 6 trips with the right current. Seems 1/4ing down and across works if there is little current, otherwise I'm lost. With no current I thought I'd get fish and caught nothing on the big baits and if it's running I haven't gotten anything. With no current I have caught Stripers on the Spook, so I know they were there.

Hey Wade,
I cast a quartering cast up current and wake it just barely faster than the current is moving, till it's straight out from me, then rip it back in. I mainly get bit on the swing as the bait almost stops as I start to bring it back in. Sometimes a couple of sharp rips of the tip on the swing help, to make it look like it is really floundering in the current. Hope this helps.
