#2001, "What's the best time of year for stripers?"
I went to lake skinner last week for the first time with my boat and fished stripers for the first time as well. We only caught one but I want to catch more. I'd like to know the best time of year to fish for these guys. Any one know?

Every lake seems to have it's own patterns but stripers can be caught all year. My favorite time to target linesides for fast & furious action is the late fall.
What did you catch your Skinner fish on? Size? (edited to add questions)

My favorite time to fish Skinner for stripers is really early on summer mornings. I watch for small boils, and then throw spooks or sammies. I don't know if this is the most productive pattern, but it sure is a blast when they come up and knock it clean out of the water. NoTrollMotor

Team Striper, I was just wondering why you guys don't let us know which one of you is asking or answering questions? Is this Josh or one of the other guys?

p.s. Fall is by far the best time of year for Stripers in most lakes with a few exceptions... (Pyramid) Gets really hot in late spring.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. The one striper I got on my trip to skinner was about 2.5 on a chovie. I wanted to use swim baits and put my down riger to work but I was with a guy who was an inexperienced fisher and I wanted to make things easy for him. Next time I'll do what I want to do. Thanks!

I heard but haven't been able to get up there, Ed got a 12 lb. fish mon. morning before the plant. First time he's been up there in quite a while. I've been spending all my spare time working on a 14' alum. boat, trying to get it ready for a trip to Utah next week.
