Rob, is there a way to unlock your post about building the deck on your boat. None of the pictures will open. I'm curious about the carpet, did you glue straight to the metal deck or did you add wood?

hey Jerry,
I'm not sure which post you are talking about, if you can put a link I can see where the images are at and put them back up.
On my boat, the front deck was already there, so I just glued straight to the aluminum. For the center deck, I got a piece of plywood, treated it with some water seal type stuff (2 coats), then glued the carpet to that. The glue I used was a spray on glue from 3M.
If I could do it again, I'd put some kind of padding under the carpet just to make it more comfy.
There's a good article about bass boat recarpeting at: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_boat_carpet.html

I have a couple of tips that I have found with doing carpet. First set the peice of carpet that you have cut out in the sun for an hour or so. This will allow the carpet to stretch a little. Then you can pull it nice and tight before you glue it or staple it. I didn't use any glue on my boat deck and it has been fine. No bubbles or loose feeling carpet so far (about 6 months) and I have been out in the heat and cold/rainy days.
I started by stapling a section down and pulling the carpet tight. Then I worked my way around until it was stapled all the way around. Glue may be easier but this way the carpet is easier to replace later if needed.
