I currently own a seeker 8 foot jig rod, and have a torium 20 on it. I have been throwing irons on this, but want to upgrade the rod. I plan on getting a Calstar 90j to put the torium on and use 40 pound, and buying a Daiwa Sealine-X to put on the seeker for live bait purposes with 25 pound line. Does this sound good to you guys?

The 90J is a sweet stick and IMHO the ULUA is even more of a monster, both are awesome. All you ideas sound good to me, Sealine is a sick bait reel, but why go to 40 pound on the jig stick? Just overkill unless you're fishing for big yellows or around a shallow reef or something. Jig swims alot better on 25 or 30.

well, I've always felt mor comfortable with 40. Thats what I use now, and it works well. I also often fish yellows in the kelp, and the 40 helps horse em in.

You might try the either the Shimano Calcutta or Teramar 90H, both are 9 feet. I have the Teramar and it is a surface iron rocket launcher. I like it as it feels like my calico rods do, only beefier for jigs i.e. lightweight compared to glass, loads up the same, etc. I'm using a Torium 20 with 30# on it.
