Setyr Tactical Crankin' Rod 7'9" Medium Action with a Curado 200B5:1. The best deep cranking rod I have ever used. Have never lost a fish on it. Bends perfectly and you can wing a DD22 a mile with it. JMO.

I like the Crucial 7'11" and the Loomis CBR847 for the DD22's. The 7'11" will get some more distance on the cast so you can keep the bait down a little longer.

I've never fished that specific Crucial rod, but I'm sure it's a great choice. I really like the Crucials that I have fished and that rod is probably no exception.

Did I not mention GLoomis too? I have used other cranking rods and I like the Loomis and Crucial actions for what I do and my water. It all comes down to what fits your needs. I was not trying to sell him anything so relax. I simply stated my opinion.

And why wouldn't I recommend a Shimano product since I do work for them? I post on this site for myself and not for my job. Of course I will recommend our products because I believe in them.

He also asked about the Crucial rod if you can learn to properly read all of the posts before trying to point me out. I'm not trying to start a battle here or anything like that. Maybe you could have offered him some advice as to what rod you like. So lets keep things proffessional on this site and offer input to the question question that he asked.

Hi Champ
Welcome to the calfishing forums. I have used the Shimano, Lamiglas and tested the Loomis crank'n sticks and of the 3 Lamiglas probally felt the best. However Okuma recently released there EVX series crankbait rod and this is a true crankbait rod. Everything about this rod feels right. I have been using the Okuma EVX-CB-701M for about a year now, its unreal for the big DD22 type crankbait and works really well for the smaller wiggle wart or fat free shad type baits. Here is a link with the specs

http://www.okumafishingteam.com/rods/conventional/evxspecialty.html

You should check one out before making your purchase.

Lake,

Who in the Sacramento area carries these rods? I am looking for a crankbait rod that will not break the bank. I love the Okuma swimbait rods that I own and would like to look at these rods as well.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous
