I met Oscar at Middle River Saturday morning to see if there was a good frog bite in the morning heat.

The air temp at 5:00am was about 70 degrees and the tide was outgoing, nearly to the bottom.

The bite was just OK, not great. I got my first and biggest fish of the day (2.5 lbs) just across from the launch beach. I fished my way to the barrier fairly quickly where I got #2 on the frog, foul hooked behind the dorsal fin. Still wondering how that happened.
Drug my boat over the rocks and did a lap around the first island for 2 more keepers. Once the sun was up and the tide bottomed out the frog bite was pretty much over.

Off the water at 9:30 with the temps already reaching near 90 degrees. Ended the day with 4 frog fish landed, dumped 2, and missed a couple of blow ups.
Besides the frog I threw a buzzbait, Trixie shad, a blade, and flipped a beaver a little for nuthin!

I bet shade pockets would have produced a bunch more bites as the day went on and the tide got higher, but I wasn't going to stick around in the heat to find out :+

Anybody fishing next weekend?

I'm in for next weekend. Should be cooler so the TV won't tell me to stay inside.
