38049, Dark Day for San Francisco Bay

58,000 gallons of toxic bunker oil were spilled into the Bay this week. I'm really bummed. This motivates me to do everything within my power to stop pollution.

All of our rivers and lakes are conntected to the Delta, Bay, and Ocean. Something must be done to make a difference.

While I have no power over tankers, shipping lanes, etc... I can help limit the amount of plastic trash generated by me (and my family). Here are some easy things we can do to make a difference.

1. NEVER throw used soft plastics (fishing line, swimbaits, senkos, grubs, worms) into the water. Please keep a small bag on your boat / float tube and dispose of those items properly. To go the extra mile, bring used fishing line to a tackle shop where it can be recycled.

2. Don't buy or drink bottled water. Use glass or stainless steel bottles to transport water. The chemicals from the soft plastic leach into the water when it warms up. These chemicals are unhealthy, especially for children and women of child bearing age. We pay for water from the tap. Why spend extra money for the same product? Save all the money that would've been spent on bottled water and buy fishing equipment!!!!

These are two small steps that don't require a very big sacrifice. Sometimes people feel powerless, but these small steps make a HUGE difference. Spread the word!
