Congrats to Mike for the win and also to Doug and John who rounded out the top 3. Here's a brief rundown. 18 anglers, 13 fish, 0 limits and big fish of 2-4. Tough day for sure!

The full results and pics are posted on the results forum.

Congrats, Mike! Good job. Let's hear the story.

Mr. Sweatt, I hope you're happy. You've created a monster.

Actually, I was kind of glad to hear how tough it was. I went out there last year for a afternoon/evening of fishing in early July. It was brutally tough! I've never seen so much fishy-looking water where it was so difficult to get a bite.

when we blasted off i had no idea where to go since i never fished this part of the delta so as everyone kind of went off in different directions i just let the wind take me to the far bank where no one else went. all day i tried to make my casts into the wind and into the current which is hard to do with light gear and the wind howling but that seemed to be the key last weekend so i was at it again and it worked. I caught a keeper about every hour and a half. I'd like to tell you they were all caught on topwater and spinnerbaits but I'm sure no one would believe that! So yes 3 came on the drop shot and 1 on a sinko. Thanks a lot to the BnT staff for another fun tourney. ;)

Mike

Way to slay Mr Mike. You have to get out in your new boat and get some real $$$$$$ with My Bill now. This is your year dude, stay on top.

Yep Andy, Mikes on fire. His last 3 tourneys he has 2 first place finishes and a second, thats scary.I`m itching to get him out on the boat for some team tourneys so I can cash in on his hot streak, lol. It sounds like the fishing was tough for you guys, lol.Oh yeah I was there,I think. That was the second most brutal tourney I`ve been a part of(the first being spring early this year). This one was more unusual because the conditions weren`t to bad,of course there was wind but it died down a bit to where the topwater bite should have been happening there the last 2 hrs or so.Anyway congrats to those that managed a keeper.

Tough bite is right! I got more bites from mosquitos than from fish!
I had only been there once before for last year's tourney and caught just one keeper so I had no game plan. The tide was bad, the wind was bad, everything was just bad. I tossed Senkos, zipper worms, and did some cranking for the first 2+ hours for nada. Finally wised up and put on a brush hog and got a good bite on the edge of some hyacinth but didn't hook up. x( Half an hour later got a squeaker off some wood on the brush hog. Pulled into Turtle Cove and found some good looking water right next to a sailboat anchored in there. Within the next 100 yards or so I caught a 12 incher, another squeaker, a 7 incher, a monster 14 incher and missed 2 other bites on the hog. That action all happened between 6:00 and 6:30. Nothing else after that. I was bummed to have struggled so hard but apparently so did everybody else. I'll take second place any day but it felt kinda funny to do it with three little fish for 3-7. Congrats to Mike for kicking our butts again and to John for 3rd place. I hope we never have a tournament like that again!

Doug
