Went fishing with my buddy looking for the ever so elusive California brown over ten pounds. We didn't get anything over ten pounds but did mangage a couple of respectiable browns on stickbaits. Scotty

Hey Buff, Nice fish. I'm pretty much a bass fisherman but I enjoy catching all fish from bluegill to salmon. I fish Shasta a couple times a year and have seen some nice browns come out of there. My P.B. Brown is right about 4#. So I'm looking to upgrade. What do mean by stick bait? Where you trolling or casting?

I've noticed that it is hard to catch that ten pound brown too. Must be because people always kill the 5 pounders.

Four
This lake I fished has a lot of little fish in them and if every fish was released there the forage wouldn't be able to keep up with the growth curve, therefore, imo& biologist, agree that keeping fish from lakes that tend to have "a lot" of browns will actually help the growth curve. Carl Marx(biologist) up in Central Oregon says the same thing about Paulina lake. There are days there that you can catch 50 fish in a day, and the same with this lake. He advises to keep a limit of fish every time. Now if there were browns in the Delta or other enormous waters I say release all. I am a firm believer in CPR and I release over 400 browns a year but again in certain lakes it is good to keep a fish to eat every now and then.
