There are trout in Clearlake. We used to own a resort there and there where a few around but they die off in the summer pretty much or find cooler water in the shag rock area to beat the heat. They come up Putah creek as do the few smallmouth that are slowly making a stand there. As to the swimbait issue of course they will. Bass have only been caught on grubs for how long?

That was good Leif, kinda funny and spontaneous :-) Bass are bass. They a big baitfish looking thing go by and they want to eat it. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go down to Texas or Florida and show them my plugs and swimbaits. It's going to find it's way there soon but to be the first guy to go out and show it to them ... that would be fun.

I already covered Florida, haha. I think they throw the plugs quite a bit on Lake Fork, so the fish have probably seen a trout plug or two in surrounding lakes. Where I want to throw em is like Louisanna or Alabama or something. There is absolutely no way any of those fish have ever seen a swimbait or a trout plug.

It doesn't matter where that girl grew up, she can't pass up a belly filling, weak swimming meal like a swimbait. Well, yes she can, as I have been shown time after time, but it sure doesn't hurt to try, they will eat the big baits.
