I was somewhat disappointed today when I didn't leave the house until 11:30. Today was suppose to be my first full day of hard bass fishing in '03. But, my wife ended up working and I ended up babysitting my 2 yr old. After eating lunch, we didn't get to the lake until about 1:00. I figured that I would toss lures for an hour or so, then troll slammers, as my son typically gets board when I plug. Ten minutes of tossing a jig yielded one solid bite, one very poor hookset and one lost fish.x( By now, my son is doing his typical fishing routine with 4 feet of line hanging off a pole with a crank bait swiming along. I switch to one of my other poles with a DD22 on it and start flinging away as well. Another 10 minutes go by, and my son starts telling me "tangle, tangle", which means he has tangled his line and he wants me to help him. In the middle of a retrieve, I stick my pole in my arm pit, and proceed to untangle his line. About 30 seconds later, his line is back in the water, and I proceed to wind my line in. It appears that my DD22 is stuck on the bottom. I pop the line a few times, and suddenly the line takes off. At this point I realize that I got a fish on and that it is not a small one. After about a 5 minute battle the fish surfaces and i'm pumped because I can see that the fish is a solid 8 to 9 lb's. My son hands me the net (the net is bigger then he is) and I net the fish. I place the fish in the livewell and keep casting the DD22 and 20 minutes later I get my third bite of the day. This fish also takes me around the boat twice, and when it surfaces i'm in fishing heaven...its bigger. After placing fish number 2 in the live well, I head to the launch ramp for weighing and pictures.

Fish #1 goes 10 even and fish #2 goes 11-6! :+ After a few pictures, I drop them back into the lake and they swim away for another day. I did not break my PB, but I also never caught 2 largemouths like this in one day...(actually 3 hours!). Definitely my best day of bass fishing.

Those are a couple of very nice fish ! Glad to see Coyote is still kicking out some big ones ! Two at a time no less !
I would love to make it down there again soon, but won't hardly bother without my confidence bait (for Coyote anyway)..... Hopefully those will be out soon also.

Continued success to ya' !

Fantastic catch, Scott! Especially with the tough conditions most people have been having there recently. Wish I was out there this weekend :(

Those are some nice fish you got there. I bet your son was excited to see you catch them.

A double-double-digit day -- that's one I'm still dreaming of for myself someday. Congrats!

Y'know, my 3 best fish from that pond have come within an hour or two of 12 o'clock. Hmmm... I may never go back down there at the break of dawn again! :7

Anyway, hope to see you out there again sometime soon. Now, you've gotta get that *son* of yours a double-digit fish! *That*'ll get his attention & keep him from getting bored, tangled or whatever.

Tight Lines!
