1082, Got a hog from Rancho Seco
Posted by Bucketmouth, Mon Apr-01-02 04:58 AM
Fished Rancho Seco thurs and fri. Thursday was a good day, a lot of fish locked on beds. I caught about 20 fish that day, two 7lbers and 2 5lbers. I broke one off that would have been 10lbs easy. Went back on Friday with my dad. Went right to a cove where a guy got a 16lber the day before, I know it's true cause I weighed him for the guy. Sure enough I pull up to a bed and theres a toad locked on. I messed with her for about an hour, and almost decided to leave. But I knew she was at least 10lbs. Finally she bit my brushhog and I set the hook, but she got off. She went right back to the bed and I figured I still might have a chance. My dad said he was taking a break. I put on a yamamoto Hula grub, first cast, she bit again. This time I hooked her good. I had to chase her down with the trolling motor and my dad finally lipped her after about 5 minutes. I was shaking so bad I knew I had my first 10lber. Hung her on the scale which I have calibrated, It reads 16lbs even, Wow!! I took a bunch of pictures and measurments. 28" length, 25" girth. and let her go. I don't know how to post a picture so if someone can help me I'd like to put some up. I'm going to have a replica made so any tips on a good taxidermist are helpful.
