Definitely Rob. I can only use my local lakes here, but I've noticed it too. Look at Castaic; when you consider how many fish are caught on Huddleston style baits, it seems that it rarely pays to fish a wood bait there unless you want to go for stripers. At DVL, the Hudds always will do the job but those fish over there seem to have a sweet tooth for Triple Trout style baits and smaller styles like the Baby E. It especially seems to me that some baits are wood vs. plastic lakes. At lakes where fish are aggressive and surface oriented, you seem to get more fish on wood baits. But on lakes like Casitas and Castaic, you'll get fish that will follow the bait all the way to the boat but never commit. They aggressive but not reckless enough to eat the wood baits like they will at Santa Margarita, often you're best bet is a realistic plastic like a Hudd or old school Castaic. Weird how it works.
