9174, Anyone going Perchin' Sunday after the rains?
Posted by Aztecwin, Sat Mar-01-03 08:59 PM
I'm going to hit the surf early manana for some Perchin'. High Tide is around nine so I'm heading out around first light.

I had good luck last sunday nose hooking the grubs like Fongster suggested and I'm hoping conditions have settled for some scrapy action in the morning. We are into March now! Time for the Godzilla Bardies!!

Tight Lines you all!!

Hey Aztecwin,
Let us know of your results. It was good meeting up with you at the beach. I was planning on perchin this weekend, but didn't get to. I'll see ya there sometime.

Hey baydude!

It was good to see you too. I wish I could post a good report about today but unfortunenatly, the day was a real bust. The water was filthy and the onshore winds kicked up real early which brought in the unwanted saled earlier than usual.

To add insult to the entire jig for me at least was the fact that I fumbled my rig in the shore break and totally trashed my little Symetre. I immediately took it over for a fresh water wash down and did a field breakdown as best I could but I could tell that sand had found its way internally so off to the shop she goes for a complete overhall.

Up to that point I had 5 small Bards. Left at 11:00 a.m. with additude. On a bright note... had a real sweet and cute young lady from out of state stop by and inquire about Perchin' Might get to cast a line with her next weekend. (weather permitting)

Oh well...thats Perchin'!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your reel Aztecwin. That's just a risk that we all face when fishing on the sand. At least it wasn't all for nil. There will be nothing wrong with showing that cutie around the surf next weekend huh? ;)Good luck!

Is the reel spinning or baitcasting?

The Shimano Symetre is a sweet little spinning reel. I love mine.

The reel is a spinner. She is on her way to the Shimano Warrantee Service Center in Irvine Manana.

All packed up and ready to go! Gonna miss her. I was thinking about putting a little Shrimp Smelly Jelly in the Shipping Box so she wouldn't get too lonely on the trek up the coast! :D

I can only hope they're gentle. Life is hell! LOL!

Tight Lines!

You might want to just send it in to Shimano, you will probably get a new reel out of it :-)
