Hi all, I am a new surf fishing junkie. I went on 7/3 at sunset and caught a fish every cast. The big one got away, but my dinner was an 18" spotfin, yummie!
My question is, what is the size limits on the fish I will catch in the surf? I live in south Orange County.

Also, what are these new closeures such as Heisler Park in Laguna, Doheny, Niguel? Can't I surf fish any where? It doesn't say in the calif. fish law book.

Thank you, Julie

Welcome in and good going on the fish, one on every cast, must have been sweeeet! as far as I know there are no size limits on surf fish although I'm pretty sure that there are bag limits, which I seldom worry about because I mostly c&r my catch, with the ocasional dinner invitation on noteworthy catches.

I have been hearing lots Corbina actions are on all over the beaches. I am planning to go out this weekend to Huntington Beach. What types of bait are you using and tips if any? As for fishing regulation for Corbina, I don't see any types of law set other than bag limits. Just catch what you are going to eat. hehehe

I have been using those 'lug worms'. There is a new live bait store on PCH and Violet Lantern in Dana Point. They have all the good baits.
And I do only keep what I can eat that night, or the next. I don't put 'em in the freezer or give them to friends.
