Chris Backstrand joined me on my Gregor Friday. We hadn't fished together in close to two years. Everyone else seemed to be chasing the yellows down south but we opted for some calicos instead. Ran north and found slow conditions by Dana Headlands. Going further, we got into a pick on the calicos that had some pretty good flurries at times. C and R'd around 30 calicos averaging 1.7 to 2.5 with a few 3-pounders. Biggest was a 6 pound 1 ounce unit. Lots of 2-3 pound bonito around. Baits with a green back were best. Water was 68.7 to 70.3. Fished 6:30 to 11:30 am.

David we had the same size fish on Saturday. We ran south and fished the YT. Landed a nice 30# YT but t was s-l-o-w so I ran north. We got about 20 or so in the 1-3 pound class. My buddy got his butt kicked fishing a live mack on 30#. Could have been a WSB in that dirty green water we found.

I need to do a Calico only trip one day starting in CDM fishing down to DP. There is a lot for me to learn still...
