Couldn't sleep last night after 9:00 p.m. so I decided to take down some frozen razor clams from the freezer that I had from last year. Treked down to Oceanside Harbor with my Coleman Lantern and usual gear.

Great solitude and peace. Had the south jetty all to myself. Nice warm onshore breeze and the water up to my waist felt about 70. Baited up and instantly my Shimano 2000 Synmetre was singing like a Canary! Big Spotfin burping and seemed to be saying, "let me go" which I promply did. Caught 4 more in the same weight range by 4:30 a.m and called it quits. There were lots of crabs on the sand but I was doing so well with the razors I didn't bother with them.

Almost got spooled by something before I lost it. I'm thinking maybe a big Leopard or a Bat Ray. Whatever it was, he or she was screaming off mono parellel to the beach about 20 yards out.

I was horsing it with my Fenwick HMXS 8'3" Salmon/ Steelhead and she was overmatched.:-(

Tight Lines!!:)

Good going. I normally only catch/release small fish off DP Harbor Pier (Spotfins included), but a few days ago, I caught/released a nice 23 inch Spotfin Croaker while playing around at lunch hour on a squid strip. Wish I had the camera...of course I didn't bring it. My biggest Spotfin to date...those bigger ones are fun fighters!
