Catching the Corbina on grubs is purely incidental as I don't believe anyone here really targets them. There are much better ways to increase your chances of hooking them. Sand Crabs, Mussel,Blood Worms, ect will reward you much better than plastics IMO.

As far as the retrieve is concerned, it was a slow steady crank that caught those that I spoke of. They were caught on blind casts. I never have seen a fish of any species strike while fishing in the surf.

Corbina are relitively easy to spot in the surf. Just start walking in ankle deep water and scan tha water that is about6" or less as it is receeding back out. I usually see more on the outgoing tide.

If you live near a pier, just look down in that rea shallow water and you should see them cruizing, hugging the beach real close up sometimes exposing their backs out of the water.

They won't be as plentiful here soon as the water temp will begin to drop rapidly.
