Took the half day run 9-3pm today. Nice sunny weather, a light breeze. The water was clear and nearly blue in front of the harbor, a little greener down south. Temps 60-62.

We stopped on the 1-mile first to check for bass. I don't know what the deal was but I caught 2 calicos and a sandbass on the 5" #13 Baitfish Big Hammers. The rest of the boat caught... nothing. Sometimes fish just want rubber.

We fished rockcod after that on the 4-mile. It was picky. A few fish per stone. I utterly suck at rockfish fishing like that. I didn't catch a thing. People caught 3 or 4 around on the rockfish, mostly small fish.

We tried inside on the horseshoe at the end of the day. Bass came up boiling immediately in the chum. I thought it was totally going to go! Instead the fish were unbelievably picky, it was strange. I hooked one chunky calico that fell off in mid air on the way to the boat, again on the Big Hammer, and that was it for bass.

It feels like things on the ocean are changing. I think the surface bite stuff could happen pretty soon out there. It just needs a little more time to build up.
