14233, Chubasco Saturday with Capt. Ron

Fished with Capt. Ron on Saturday with a very light load to the nados. Fished the iron most of the day hopin for a yellow. Yieled a ton of rockfish but nothing worthwhile. Started fishing a double dropper loop and loading up on the rockfish and whitefish, and went back to the iron when we anchored on a rockpile right next to a huge paddy. Yoyoing the tady 4/0 got me bit first cast and a HUGE bonito, hits the deck. These were 10 pound status bonito. 2 casts later, bendo again. This one feels more like the right kind, but the hook pulls right before color. Very next cast, bendo again. Fish takes me halfway around the boat and breaks off 40 pound at color . Another huge bonito, and the line was a clean cut. All in all I'd say it was a good trip because my arm is still sore from cranking up an 8 oz. weight and two giant whitefish every drop for 3 or 4 hours straight. Excelllent bite all day and had a great time. We also got one mako on the boat, and another one that decide to hitch a ride with a rockfish, and wouldnt let go until a few wacks from the gaff made him drop his meal and take off back into the depths, the mako landed was caught on the iron.
