Made a trip to the lake today for the first time in a while. Thw water was "Cachuma clear", unlike last time when it was MAYBE one foot of vis. When I got there, #2 had already pulled a little 12 incher on a jerkbait. I believe Daniel had one at that point as well, on the senko. I threw a black spinnerbait, even during the light. Before it got dark, I stuck a 1-13. After the sun went down, we started to move over toward the fountain. As we were walking down the road I saw some birds sitting on the water. Just out of sarcasm, I was like "Hey, there must be shad over there under those birds..." I fired one out there just for the hell of it, and HOOK UP. 3lb. 5oz. Nice. We got to the fountain, and then Daniel hooked up with a 2-15 (that's close enough to 3 for me). Looks like these fish are finally wakin up and gettin into pre-spawn. These fish were all really healthy, huge guts on every fish I saw. Didn't look like they were making beds yet, cause none of em had any pink on em, but they're scopin it out I think. Brian even threw a buzzbait around a little bit, but got they would have nothing of it (yet, hehehe).

I went to the pond for the first time this afternoon. I had one hit one a charteuse crank bait and that was it. I threw some crankbaits and spinnerbaits for about and hour. I think I was too worried about getting thrown off the pond to seriously fish. Do you fish from the street side or come in off the bike path in back? See you out there sometime, maybe...

I fish from the street side, the other side is a little obvious that you don't live there... We got caught the other day and they took away our wristbands :-( so we'll be doing late night trips from now on...

Sounds fun to me. I've been dreaming of fishing lately, but that's it. I've got one heck of a cold/flu. Hopefully it'll clear by friday, got another tournament this weekend.

What's a night at your pond? How big do they get in there?

The biggest I've caught out of there was like 7. Pete (leapin bass) caught one around 6. Mostly 1 to 2 pound fish, occasional 3's and 4's. Sweet topwater action during the summer.

What do you mean they took away your wristbands? Do they just tell you to leave or threaten to call the fish police? Noone paid much attention to me, but it was dusk and rainy.

We were being kinda loud, and apparently one of the security guards lives at lake side. He came out of his house, asked us who our resident was, and said he'd take our wristbands back to the office. We kind of had a connection with this kid in the park who scored us some wristbands to prove we were residents, but the resident has to be with you while you're at the lake.

Brian, Do you know anything about the reservior in the hills above Santa Barbara? You take Las Positas north until it turns into San Roque Rd. Stay on that and it basically dead ends into it. It is all fenced off but I have heard some interesting stories about the place.

Brian has some interesting stories himself. You have to fish this res. at night. But there are big fish in there.

Where is this lake Rancho Goleta? I would like to fish it if not too far from me.

Went out there last night. With all of our crappy weather I just had to go out and remember what a fish felt like. Planned to stay there for an hour or so. Fished 45 minutes for nothing then finally stuck a 14 incher, then an 18, then a fat 20 that was probably in the 5.5 lb. neighborhood (or 9 lbs. if you're Bill Dance, Roland Martin or this retard I saw on TV last weekend catching Striped/White Bass Hybrids and over-estimating their weight like crazy). Got all three fish in 10 minutes, the 20 was right near shore. The black shortarm spinnerbait came through again.
