9163, April,7 Lopez Posted by Phil, Mon Apr-07-03 04:42 PM
I Fished Lopez again today from 8:00 to 3:00. I started out in wittenberg and flipped a keeper right away on a texas rigged zipper worm. I spent another hour in there throwing a jig, spinnerbait and the worm and couldn't get anything else. After that, I headed to Lopez arm and drop-shotted a few largemouth and caught some smallmouth on a spinnerbait and ripbait. I threw the sidewinder around some, but it just didn't feel right for it today. For the last hour, I went into mallard cove and flipped the sticks with a zipper worm again. I connected with a good fish that didn't want to come out of the brush. I was trying to work the trolling motor and keep it from wrapping around the sticks and I just wasn't able to. By the time I got to it, my line was tangled up and the fish was gone. I got a good look at it while it was still on and it was easily around 7lbs or so, but it's just a story now. I flipped the brush some more and threw a carolina rig on the flats for nothing.
Here's a pic of a little smallmouth I caught on a ripbait.
