OK, I cry mercy. This question has been asked many many many many times already, and I don't mean to pick on you, because hey, people wanna know what kind of rod to get, but take a few minutes and do an advanced search on the Freshwater and Trophy boards and you will lots of really good in depth info from a variety of anglers on this subject. Thanks, and good luck!

Oh, thanks. I understand your point. I have tried rods like Rainshadow SW967, Loomis HSR932C, BBR964C, and other Shimano flipping sticks, etc. But, I haven't found a perfect one for me yet. Before I just purchase something new, I want to hear from a lot of people at least I can find a perfect rod for me because rod itself is not that cheap and I want to make a final decision of it. If there are other swim bait rods, pleas tell me so I can try them and I'm just asking for help. Thanks Rob.

Thanks Jake. That was very helpful. Where can I see these rods? I actually want to feel it in my hand before I buy it. If there are any stores you know that carry Rogue, Lamiglass, Okuma, Calstar, let me know.

What don't you like about the rods you've tried? Are any of them close to what you're looking for? I'm just curious to find out what you're looking for specifically.

I have a Calstar 800XL, Loomis BB964 and a Rainshadow SW967. I like all these rods for different applications. There's always a few things I would change on just about every rod I own. That's why it's nice to custom build them myself. The BB964 wasn't quite the way I wanted it and now that I broke it, I got a new blank that I can change some things on. Are the rods you have custom wrapped? If not, maybe you could consider doing that.

Hey Phil,
How did you break your BBR964? Was it on the cast? I was wondering because I'm thinking about getting one of those and wanted to know if I would be able to cast the 9 inch wood baits on it.
Thanks

No, it wasn't on the cast. I did it at home and it was entirely my fault. In fact, it took alot of pressure to break, and I don't see this rod breaking under normal conditions. I like this rod for lighter 7" rubber swimbaits. It'll handle the weight of 9" swimbaits, but it feels a little akward compared to a heavier composite rod.

Oops I forgot to read the part of your question about wood baits. I think the wood baits are lighter than the rubber and feel very nice on this rod. It's a little stiff for a bait with trebles, but it throws 'em like a dream. Very effortless.

Loomis GL3 BBR 965 8 footer with a Shimano 300 TE reel......pretty simple!
