Today I headed up to the lake solo again around 2 or 3pm. After much bs'ing at the marina I headed out with one of the locals, Dave on his boat. We had a dollar bet with Dean from the marina and Sean (the guy I bought my boat from) on who could bring back the biggest bass of the day. Dave and I fished across from the marina and worked towards the dam. Dave had the tail bit off his 4" swimbait on about the third cast of the day. Then I caught a 12 incher on the 5" big hammer. We moved out on some outside boulders starting to show as the water has been dropping and I had some tap taps but no hookup. Next cast I nailed one a little over 3 pounds. We threw that one in the well and kept at it but didn't do much else for the next half-hour before heading up to the walls in the narrows. By then it was getting bitch ass cold which kinda sucked because I was in shorts and a t-shirt with no jacket. We got the helmet in the narrows even after switching to jigs. At 7:30 we went back down the lake and fished the same stuff we started on. I had two quick buzzbait fish but they were small. Then Dave finally got in to it and thumped a couple of 2 to 2.5 pounders on the buzzbait. Back at the dock Sean had big fish a 4-3 which he caught dart heading a sluggo. Dean said he also caught a 3-5 on a fish trap I gave him. Pretty good fishing in general in what felt like fall conditions. If it turns cold, get out there and fish, it seems to trigger the bass.
