5887, Pyramid Lake Closed Temporarily
Posted by , Wed Sep-25-02 05:48 PM
Today it was closed. Tomarrow too will be likely as per the parking attendent. That sucks! Very strange reason ... fire risk? Most thousands opon thousands of acres of land are at risk. So, what's up ... really? National Forest Service had shut them down for 48 hrs. as of today Wed. 9-25-02. I had to fish Quail Lake for only 1 catfish at 2 lbs. WOW!
5888, It will be closed indefinatly till ...

the fire season is over. I was at a meeting last night with the park people at Castaic. This means that it will get more crowded at Castaic
and that Pyramid will be closed for a long time. The Forestry Service closed the Angeles National Forest. I would believe that Lake Elizabeth would be closed as well.
God bless

Just hope for some early rain. That's the only thing that is going to get the lake opened back up. They laid off all 15 people that worked there yesterday.

Someone needs to explain why they would close the lake just because it "Fire Season"

Is this the first time they've done this?

I was told that they could not lose anymore forest to fires.
They can't afford it and there isn't enough personel to fight another fire. I also was told today that they were thinking about either the end of October or the end of December to re-open.

I got an email today from someone saying it will be Jan, Feb, March before enough rain falls to make the plant life green enough to keep it from burning so easy. The good news is when they DO open it back up the fishing will be soooooooooo good!
God bless
