Another slow night at Puddingstone. I fished with Kenny and a friend of his last night from 6:30 to 10. Only two bites for me during the trip, one felt like a 5# class fish but came off half way in. The other fish I landed but he was only about a pound. It was kind of funny because as the life guard boat was making his final rounds on the lake, I waited for the wake to pass over my worm and as soon as it did, I hooked that liitle guy. For some reason that seems to work every time. Kenny got 4 or 5 bites but only hooked two; one broke hime off and one threw the hook! Those were nice fish too. Kenny's friend also landed one about 3 pounds. All fish bit brass and glass worms, I was using a Yamamoto Curly Tail in smoke purple flake, they were using Senkos with black blue flake. I also tried a jig, brush hog and a rattletrap but it seems they are in the brass and glass mode right now.

I've been fishing early in the mornings and getting fish 15''-18.5'' on topwater lures. Only a few fish every morning but it's worth seeing them explode on my lure everytime.

I can't seem to get anything on topwater! I have been throwing a pop-r everytime I go out but nothing? I assume you are throwing the Zara Spook? Maybe I'll try that this Friday. Tight Lines,

About 80% of my topwater fish are on zara spooks the rest are caught on Rapala skitter pops. I prefer spooks because I can cast them way over all the weeds in the lake where no body cast and nail most fish at the weedline. The afternoon topwater bite is usually good in the east and north shores. About two weeks ago I finally landed a fish on a jitterbug at 7:30pm. Give it a shot.

What's up TC- The Zara Spooks have been working. Just try walking the dog at different speeds until you find the one they want. It's one of those bites where you might not have confidence in the lure your throwing but if You just keep at it and stick it out for awhile you'll get bit on the top water at Pud. If you do stick it out and you don't get bit try not to let it discourage you from fishing the top water.

The weeds will start backing off soon. I'm going to miss the weeds. I know most people think they're a hassle to deal with but I like fishing flukes in the weeds. May be because it makes me feel like I'm calico bass fishing. With that said I think I'll go pith some in the coastal weeds until the weeds come back the lakes next year. Good Luck
