Matt and I fished the lake in the evening today as is often the case. The bite according to reports, had gotten tougher with the full moon and we definitely experienced that today although we still caught some fish. We started in some of the small coves west of Jackass canyon. Matt threw a speed trap and I threw the Castaic Gizzard Shad. We had no bites until we got to the point at the mouth of Jackass where I landed a 12" or so fish. Working into the cove Matt nailed a healthy 2lb fish on the chrome/blue 1/4oz speed trap. The fish definitely looked like they had been feeding heavily. On the rockpile I caught another one about 2lb on the gizzard shad. As we worked towards the back of the cove we saw shad everywhere in medium sized schools. They were literally blanketing the back of the cove. I missed two bites on the gizzard shad and that was all for Jackass Canyon. By then it was pretty dark so we moved over by the White Oak ramp. Four other boats were there and although Matt caught a small one on the speed trap the rest of the area was dead. 8:30 and we headed to the other side of the lake for some final topwater. It was dead until it started getting pitch dark and I had a 3lb'er come up and annihilate my zara spook. With that we headed for the barn.
